The camp after the war, the trials and remembrance

At the Rastatt trial from 1946 to 1947, several people in charge of the camp's surveillance were sentenced to death or imprisonment. Erwin Dold, the last commander of the camps of « Barbe-Haslach » and « Dautmergen » was acquitted.

In 1970, a local historian began researching to bring out the historical truth. In 1997, the « Collectif pour la commémoration de Vulkan » was created. On 25 July 1988, in cooperation with the town of Haslach, they erected a commemorative monument. Many surviving deportees were found and several meetings took place at Haslach between them and the collective's members in order to pass on memories about the camp.
